Duoc UC is a non-profit, private institution of higher education. We offer two and a half years Technical Programs and four-years Professional Programs. In 2017, we received once again a 7 out of 7 years of institutional accreditation from the Accreditation National Agency, which certifies the quality of our educational project and its relevance among the higher education institutions in our country.
Only five higher education institutions in Chile have been granted this distinction. Duoc UC is the only Professional Institute, alongside with, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Chile, Universidad de Santiago and Universidad de Concepción, the most important Universities in the country, to have ever received this recognition.
Our History
Duoc UC was founded in 1968 by a group of students at the prestigious Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, with the help of professors and labor unions, to offer training courses for blue –collar workers that lacked access to university education. In 1973 “Fundación Duoc” was created to achieve managerial and financial independence from the University, this privatization process was completed in 1974. In 1981 Duoc’s Professional Institute and Duoc Technical Training Center were created under the umbrella of this foundation. In 1982 the Ministry of Education recognized the professional institute and in 1983 the technical training center. Duoc UC remains a part of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile’s network.
